I'm comin home!

I'm on my way baby! I'll be there in 2 ten hour flights and 1 two hour flight! No problem :-)
By the way friends, if you ever have the chance to fly a route that takes you through the Singapore airport, may I HIGHLY recommend you book your flights with a LARGE lay-over here? I said it in the last post but here I am again having even more time to explore this place and it is Ah..mazing. Really, you could almost make a case for going on vacation TO this airport. They have an In-transit hotel that we are staying in, it has a pool and gym and movie theatre, theres shopping and food and a day spa, free internet, TV's, play areas for kids...Im not really sure what else you do on vacation that you can't do here; oh and you can take tours from here that don't require you to do the whole checkout/customs thing, just hop on out to explore the city for a couple hours before your next flight. I haven't taken advantage of much besides the free internet but I will admit that I just got a fancy dancy (yes it's a word) foot massage while John (the woman Im traveling with) got a whole spa pedicure deal (it's actually her birthday today so she splurged and after her begging I agreed to keep her company with a slightly less extravagant purchase) :-) Hope that was okay honey! :-) You still want me to come home right?!
Well, my time limit is again ticking away at me! 1:11...1:10...1:00...
I hope to post pictures of my real adventures on here soon so you won't have to read anymore about Singapore; since really this place had very little to do with my last two weeks! Ah well! I look forward to catching up in cyberspace :-)

Life Has Lost It's Flavor

Hey all. This a post from Katie's husband. If many of you have been checking the blog these last couple weeks you will notice that there have been no updates lately (this is very uncharacteristic of my wife's blog). My wife has become the poster child for internet community these last couple years, she was the first in the family to blog, the first to get a myspace page, the first to get facebook, and do that google chat thing. Don't be fooled my wife is as excited to log onto the world wide web again as she is to come home and see her family (this is only slightly exaggerated).

So in a tribute to my beautiful, super cyber spouse, I post an update on this blog.

This entry is a shot out to all of those single parents out there, how the heck do you do it. I'm struggling to survive two weeks and I have the church making dinners for me and in-laws moving in. For those of you who do this on a regular basis without the support of a spouse I am in awe. You are my new heroes. Here is my new life. I think I'm going to turn it into a song.

In the middle of all of this only by the grace and fore thought of my wife and in-laws we managed to do a few fun things, like go to Macy's first dance class and fly kites in the park. Below are some pictures

If it was all left up to me the kids probably wouldn't have left the house for two weeks straight, and would be suffering from anemia, but my wife left a folder that tells me exactly what to do everyday. On top of that she built in safe guards and I constantly get people checking in on me to make sure I'm following the instructions left in the folder (no joke). I'm sad to say without some of those phone calls (Carly, Beth, Patty) I would have forgotten some critical things.

At times like this Genesis 2:18 comes to mind,"it is not good for man to be alone." GOD KNEW IT. Now I do too.

Well enough rambling, my wife returns in a couple days and I have a lot of cleaning to do.

Greetings from Singapore!

Yes, I am in Singapore.

I'm at the airport here for a lay over on my way to Papua New Guinea which I'm pretty sure I intended to post about since deciding I was going almost two months ago... but obviously that never happened. SO... I'll tell you now! I'm on my way to Papua New Guinea for two weeks to aid in some missionary work at the Wycliff Bible Translating base over there. I have had all sorts of up and down emotions about going on this trip but in the end I just felt strongly that God was asking me to go; even though it is wripping my heart into tiny shreds right now as I think of how long and far it is away from my kids and husband. Especially considering that I've only been gone like 36 hours and already I feel like my chest could implode from the gigantic bubble forming in my throat!

Well, that could be due to the 'bug' of some sort that I woke up with this morning as well. Yes, the lovely passanger that seems to have hopped off last night's flight with me and caused me to puke repeatedly into a burger king bag in the corner of the airport. Could be the malaria medication, could be true sickness, could be a combination of all sorts of things, but it was definitely embarrasing and miserable.
Did I mention this is the CLEANEST place in the world? Yeah, so imagine how many looks I got as I hurled my insides into a plastic bag in public. I couldn't help it, there was no bathroom in sight...at least I HAD a plastic bag ya know?
Well, the beauty of this free internet at this airport is that I get 10 minutes and that is it, so my 2:15...2:14...2:13 is ticking away and i want to end this while I have enough time for it to post!
I just thought I'd take advantage of our layover time to tell you all hello and to be thinking of me for the next few weeks while Im in a place that definitely does NOT have free internet, and cell phones and foot massage chairs (yeah this airport is pretty sweet!) Hello to my family, I miss you guys. Be home soon!

"Auntie Bob's" Wedding Dance!

Haley and Clint got married this past weekend!!! It was such a gorgeous wedding, everything went perfectly and we all had so much fun celebrating these two who have waited SO LONG for this day. Haley and her bridesmaids surprised Clint with a dance during the reception that depicted the "Story" of their relationship over the past 6 years! I'm not gonna lie, we worked pretty hard on this puppy, and even though poor Haley's bustle broke and she had to hold her dress through the whole dance, STILL it went off without a hitch and Clint was so surprised! For your viewing pleasure... enjoy!
